Two 7 Year Olds Shot in Southeast DC

D.C. Fire and EMS are responding to the 1900 block of Savannah Street SE, where at least three people have been shot, including two 7 year olds.

An adult and a child were both shot in the leg, and another child was shot in the back.

One of the children was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital.  The other victims were transported via ambulance.

D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said that the children were walking with a counselor when the shots were fired.  She called the incident, “ridiculous.”

One witness who spoke to News4′s Darcy Spencer said she heard about 11 shots being fired during the incident.

Police continue to search for the shooter. D.C. K-9 units and a police helicopter are being used in the search.
