High School in Richmond Wants To Open Up a Day Care Inside the School
By DMVFollowers on October 10, 2012
Richmond Public Schools wants to make dropping out of high school less of an option for young parents who feel they have no other choice.
The district has opened up a child care lab inside Armstrong High School. The center is an on-site daycare program that will serve students and their families.
“With this lab established, more students and parents will be impacted. What you see here is a fresh start for a lot of our students,” Richmond Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Yvonne Brandon said.
School officials said the lab works as an extension of the classroom environment by providing students with parenting skills, and helping students take the steps to become licensed childcare providers.
