Around 10:30 am, while several JMVFC units were already on a small fire in Edgewood, a second call was alerted for a reported building fire at the Denny’s, 1803 Edgewood Road. Engine 811, Truck 831 and Medic 892 responded. Medic 892 was first to arrive and reported a one story restaurant, fire through the roof. Truck 831 arrived as the second truck, positioning on side “charlie”. Engine 811, clearing the other fire, arrived as the fourth engine and supplied Engine 315 from Bel Air, positioned on side “charlie” as well. Medic 892 treated and transported one civilian employee with non-life threatening injuries. A special call for two additional engines was made, which brought Engine 812 and Chief 8. Air Unit 861 also responded as part of the working fire profile. In all, over 20 Joppa-Magnolia Volunteers operated on this one alarm fire. Units from the Abingdon Fire Company, Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company, Susquehanna Hose Company and the Aberdeen Proving Ground Fire Department also operated. Many thanks to the Fallston Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company who transferred their Engine to Joppa house 1 during the fire.
