Eight people were injured early Sunday after about 100 people got into a fight at a rapper karaoke night at New Red Rock Cafe in Gaithersburg, according to Montgomery County police.

One adult male was shot, five people were stabbed and two others were injured in the fight, police spokeswoman Lucille Baur said.

Six people were taken to the hospital and one drove himself, all with non-life threatening injuries, Baur said.

Gaithersburg police and Montgomery County police responded to the restaurant, at 385 Muddy Branch Road, after receiving a call at about 1:34 a.m., she said.

The fight started between two female patrons inside the restaurant, male patrons quickly joined in, and the fight escalated and moved into the parking lot, Baur said. Police established a perimeter and broke up the fight, Baur said.

The restaurant, located in the Festival shopping center, is open until 2 a.m. on Saturdays. It had highly advertised the rapper karaoke night, and attracted people from outside of Montgomery County, such as Prince George’s County and Washington, D.C., Baur said.

Police currently have no one in custody and would like anyone who witnessed the fight to call 240-773-8477; calls can be anonymous. Anyone who is willing to speak to a detective can call the 5th/6th district station at 240-773-6237.
