Dana Rohrabacher, First Republican Congressman to Publicly Admit He Smokes Weed
Republican Congressman, Dana Rohrabacher, was the first Congressman In Over Thirty Years to Admit to Smoking Medical Marijuana Last Week
Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R-CA) and five other members of Congress spoke at a National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) demonstration last week. Cannabis Radio reports that Rohrabacher was the only Republican congressman to speak about the federal issues concerning marijuana legalization nationwide. Rohrabacher spoke about his passion for surfing and, how after thirty years, he was suffering from certain physical injuries.
Rohrabacher explained that his pain was so severe that he had not been surfing for a year and half, but after trying a cannabis infused cream given to him to rub on his shoulder, his pain went away in about two weeks.
Rohrabacher credits medical marijuana for his renewed participation in his passion of surfing
“Now don’t tell anybody I broke the law. They’ll bust down my door and, you know, and take whatever’s inside and use it for evidence against me. The bottom line is that… there’s definitely cannabis in there, and it makes sure that I can sleep now.” – Rep. Congressman Rohrabacher
NORML Executive Director Allen St. Pierre, commented on the Congressman’s statements…
“This is definitely the first legislator in Congress in at least thirty-some-odd years who has acknowledged to using marijuana illegally. Back in the 19-early-80s, there was a congressman, Stewart McKinney… and he and a guy named Newt Gingrich introduced a bill, and it was all about his [McKinney’s] need to use medical marijuana, even back in the 1980s.”
